About the event
Motivated to inspire others to engage with the world around them, Rolf has melded science, technology, arts, and media. Graduating from Middlesex University in 1990 with a degree in Scientific Illustration, he has applied his skills to diverse design work.
His passion for sharks led to work with the University of Miami, the BBC and to launching the UK Shark Trust. He co-founded the charity MARINElife, a citizen science project which has recorded whales, dolphins and sharks along UK sea lanes for the past 25 years. His Royal Naval career included global service as a Media Operations Officer. Rolf’s fascination with technology, the US Space Shuttle and accreditation from NASA, informed his MSc dissertation at Imperial College in Science Communication.
Now, Rolf is a Lincoln school teacher with a PGCE from Canterbury Christ Church University. He continues to be an avid wildlife explorer and is immersed in Lincolnshire’s RAF legacy. We are pleased to be showcasing his exhibition ‘Space for Nature’: mixed media with information telling the story of how we track wildlife from space - six individual creatures, their scientists, the rockets and satellites, what we have learned and why it matters.
Open view: Midday to 5pm.
